Zona Maco Art Fair 2025

In this edition of MACO Photo 2025, Galerie Younique will present a photographic quartet (Samuel CHAMBI, Majo GUERRERO, Georges ROUSSE, Javier SILVA MEINEL), ranging from the abstract to the figurative.

Samuel CHAMBI questions the role of photography itself. With this serie "Nonfiction (non-documentary)", he used an analog camera, extended the prints to then paint the costumes of the characters portrayed, generating at the same time a feeling of community and a strange atmosphere by the visual misalignment of an unreal situation. CHAMBI's ambition is to go beyond the urban landscape and offer a reflective plastic vision, caressing the painting both in the content and in the form.

Majo GUERRERO focuses on the photographic processes of the nineteenth century (wet collodion, carbon printing, cyanotype), which involve the creation of images from fundamental elements of photography: photosensitive chemicals, light and dark camera. Her photographic series play with the encounter of document, archive, simulation and fiction: by appropriating digital archives from space telescopes or satellite images, she creates incredible and suggestive photographic objects.

Georges ROUSSE has a passion for abandoned or ruined places, and creates ephemeral and unique works there: intervening in space by painting it or installing a wooden/metal structure, giving an artistic illusion visible only in his photographs. His works are part of the largest public and private collections worldwide (Centre Georges Pompidou - Paris, Miro Foundation - Barcelona, Guggenheim Museum - New York, Deutsche Bank Collection - Frankfurt, Merrill Lynch Collection - London, De Mesnil Collection - Houston). He has participated in numerous biennials (Paris, Venice, Sydney) and received many prestigious photographic awards.
